5 am to 6 am Quotes

Gaines: Now bury your friend.
Rick: Where?
Gaines: (exasperated) In the ground.

---
Carl: (to David) Before you finish crucifying me, save some nails for your wife.
---
(cover up confrontation with his wife)
David: Or were you protecting your chance to move into the White House?
Sherry: I am as ambitious as you are David. That's why you married me.
David: No. I married you because I loved you.
---
Jack: (he informs his wife that Kim has been kidnapped and its possible connection to the Palmer hit) Teri, I'm so sorry. I know this is all because of me. I try to keep a wall between my work and my family. The wall is coming down. Now, I don't know what to do.
---
David: Sorry to wake you like this, Mike. But something's come up. I was trying to keep you out of it.
Mike: I'm your Chief-of-staff, David. I shouldn't be kept out of anything.
David: It's a private matter.
Mike: You're running for President. Nothing's private anymore.
---
Gaines: You're going to the office, like everyone else.
Jack: CTU?
Gaines: That's where you work.
---
Gaines: That's right. We're watching you.

'24' Day One

Episode Six: The following takes place between 5 am and 6 am.

David Palmer discovers that his entire family is involved in the cover up of the murder of the man who raped his daughter. On the advice of Mike Novick, he decides that before Kingsley goes public with this information, he beats her to it.

Jack is reunited with his wife, Teri, in the hospital where Janet was admitted. Before he gets his chance to question Janet, he receives a call from Ira Gaines, telling him that if he wants to see his daughter alive, then he better follow Gaines' instructions. And follow them, he does, leaving Teri in the hospital.

(after tucking the transponder into his ear)
Gaines: Now, say something.
Jack: If you hurt my daughter, I will kill you.
Gaines: Good. Now there's a nice, clear signal.

---
Back at the hospital, the man claiming to be Allan York kills Janet. He then lures Teri out of the hospital by informing her that Janet has given him the address where she and Kim were brought in earlier. While in the car, on their way to the said address, Teri receives a call from Nina, asking her to inform Jack, in case the latter contacts her first, that they have identified the body of the murdered man Jack asked them to ID...and his name is Allan York.

'24' Day One

Episode Five: The following takes place between 4 am and 5 am.

Jack follows the arrested man to the police station, with a plan to extract more information from him about Kim. Mason, however, catches up on them and takes over the interrogation. The man demands to talk only to Jack Bauer. He strikes a deal with Jack: he tells Jack what he knows if Jack gets him out of prison to proceed as planned. Left with no choice, Jack stages the most kick-ass jail break I've ever come across.

The man receives a call from a payphone in the area where he was earlier arrested. The caller is Ira Gaines, who, by now, has Kim in custody. The man receives additional instructions from Gaines, which lead Jack to a car with a dead body in its trunk.

Mason, once again, catches up on them, moments after the jail break. Jack confides in Mason (leaving out the missing daughter bit) and I guess they're back on a smooth working relationship.

Meanwhile, David Palmer has a talk with Kingsley on the 'rumor' the latter is planning to go public with. Several years ago, Nicole, Palmer's daughter, was raped. The man responsible for it reportedly committed suicide by jumping off a window. Kingsley, however, has sources refuting such reports. The sources indicate that the man was actually murdered, pushed off the window, by none other than Keith, Palmer's son.
---
Mason: Why were you trying to blackmail me?
Jack: Because you were withholding information vital to the investigation, George.
Mason: I was following orders. I realize it's a concept you may be unfamiliar with Jack, but it's something that some of us actually do take seriously.
---
(Gaines interrogating Dan about Janet)
Dan: (nervous) The thing is...maybe, she wasn't quite dead.
Gaines: Oh, I tell you Dan, you're either dead or you're not dead. There's no such thing as sort of dead. Here, let me show you.
(pulls out a gun and shoots Dan on the head)
(to Rick) You've just been promoted. Congratulations.

Episode Four: The following takes place between 3 am and 4 am.

CTU is under a lock-down per order of George Mason after receiving a call from Tony. Two agents are dead and Jack was there when it happened. In Tony's opinion, Jack has spun out of control and must be relieved of his duties. Following the lock-down order, Mason interrogates Nina and Jamey on the whereabouts of Jack, who has managed to escape despite the lock-down.

Mason: He's a loose cannon. Rules don't apply to Jack Bauer. He does what he wants, when he wants, and he doesn't care whose life it affects. So, where is Jack Bauer?

---
18166 San Fernando Road, where the action is. Jack and lady cop Jessie Hampton pursue a suspect in the said address, which popped out from the key card. Hampton gets killed after being taken hostage. The suspect is eventually arrested and brought to the police station, as the LAPD has jurisdiction of him, having killed a cop and all. Jack is, however, unnerved when the arrested man gives him a hint on Kim's disappearance.

Could his daughter's disappearance and the threat on Palmer be somehow connected?
---

Over at David Palmer's camp:

Sherry: Wait a minute. They haven't told you, have they? There's been an assassination threat.
David: (smiling) Is that what this fuss is all about?
Sherry: Yes!
David: ( still smiling) I thought it was something serious.

---

Agent Pierce: I'm not sure you appreciate the seriousness of this threat.
David: I get serious threats every morning with my orange juice.
.....
David: (irked) What do we know?
Agent Pierce: That these are serious people and they want you dead, today.

---

(arguing on the change of Palmer's schedule)
David: The breakfast is important! The top labor leaders in the State are gonna be there!
Agent Pierce: We're trying to keep you alive, Senator.
David: And I'm trying to win an election!

In this particular episode, Jack spoke Spanish. Cool.

'24' Day One

Episode Three: The following takes place between 2 am and 3 am.

Let's take a look on what's happening at David Palmer's camp.

Earlier, he receives a call from reporter Maureen Kingsley about a 'rumor' that is threatening to destroy his campaign. Despite the danger on his life, he sneaks out from his headquarters and meets Carl. Carl gives Palmer his assurances that he's going to take care of the 'rumor'.

Carl: Oh, I'll figure out where this is coming from and I'll cut it off, but David, we go back a few years. You have your principles, you don't compromise, blah, blah, blah. That's why I love you. But you knew that gloves were gonna come off. Well, they are off, that's why you have me.
---
Over at CTU, Jack confronts Nina on her alleged involvement on the hit on Palmer. Nina denies the accusations and even has an alibi. The second weekend of January, the date the data on Palmer are uploaded to the key card, Nina was with Jack in Santa Barbara.

(on whether or not to shut down Nina's confidential access)
Jamey: Look, you were seeing her, weren't you?
Jack: That's none of your business.
Jamey: I think in this case, it is.
---

What's happening over at Kim's side?

She and Janet momentarily escape. Momentarily, because Janet gets hit by a car while on the run, causing them a few precious moments. Hence, the bad guys are able to catch up on Kim, leaving Janet on the road, presumably dead.

Seconds later, Janet opens her eyes. She's alive!

'24' Day One

Episode Two: The following takes place between 1 am and 2 am.

Tony: Jack!
Jack: What?
Tony: You wanna tell me what's going on tonight?
Jack: What's going on? You mean besides a 747 falling out from the sky and a threat on a presidential candidate's life?
Tony: Yeah, that's right. Besides that.
---

What's going on is an innocent date turns into a nightmare when Kim realizes that Dan and Rick, the guys she and Janet went out with, are kidnapping them.

What's going on is Mandy handing over the ID she stole from a photographer on board the plane that blew up earlier to an Ira Gaines. The said photographer is scheduled for a breakfast photo ops with David Palmer.

What's going on is an encrypted key card handed over to Jack by Walsh, who died in the process. The key card locates who the dirty agent is, the one behind the day's dreaded assassination attempt. Jack enlists the help of Jamey to source the key card.

It points to Myers, Nina.
---
In this particular episode, Jack slices off the thumb of one of his assailants to bring it back to CTU for identification. Classic gore.

'24' Day One

'I'm Federal Agent Jack Bauer. And this is the longest day of my life.'

This is the beginning of a series of bad days in the life of Jack Bauer...

Episode One: The following takes place between 12 am and 1 am.

Moments after Jack's daughter, Kimberly, snucks out of the house, Jack receives a call from the CIA's Counter Terrorist Unit Los Angeles or CTU, which he heads. In the briefing, he is told by Richard Walsh that within the next 24 hours, there will be an assassination attempt on the life of Presidential candidate David Palmer, the first African-American with a shot at the White House. Moreover, Jack is secretly informed by Walsh that there is a mole in the agency. He is not to trust anyone, not even his own people.

Meanwhile, Teri, Jack's wife, sets out with Alan York, who earlier claimed that his daughter Janet is a friend of Kim's and is missing too, to find both their daughters.

Over at the Mojave Desert, a plane explodes.
---
Jayme: How long is this gonna take?
Nina: Why? Are we interrupting your social life?
Jayme: At least I have one.
Nina: Funny.
